Fantasy Baseball 2011 Player Analyzer: Ricky Nolasco SP Florida Marlins

I am starting a new feature today as we start to move into fantasy baseball as fantasy football comes to a close. This post and more like it will be dedicated to profiling "My Guys" in fantasy baseball who I have a personal crush on from a ROTO perspective and what I can envision for them this season. Everyone who plays any fantasy game has those few players they own almost every season and have guys they reach for more than most other owners would. So that brings me to my first MY GUY this season and he is fresh of signing a three year contract extension with the Florida Marlins and that is SP Ricky Nolasco.
Now let me fill you in on my Nolasco crush and where it began. It was the All Star break during the 2008 fantasy baseball season and I was looking for some back end help in my starting pitching staff due to injuries. I perused the free agent wire and settled on the young Nolasco who put up a 3.70 ERA in the first half but who had ERA's well over 4.50 his first two years. So despite the decent looking ERA, no one was willing to take a shot on a previously shaky Nolasco who also had yet to show much strikeout punch. I took a shot however and what happened next launched me to a title in that particular league as Nolasco went on a tear to the tune of a 3.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 98 K in 95 IP. It was an eye opening finish to the season and it appeared as though Nolasco had busted out as a potential top of the line fantasy baseball starter.

The Importance of Soccer Videos and Highlights

Soccer is the most populous sport in today's world. It has been with us from many centuries. There has been no way of determining the origins of this beautiful game because many cultures had the tradition of playing with a small ball in the field in order to pass time. Throughout its development, soccer has created employment for many people from advertising to sponsorships and the actual players who make a living entertaining us.
In relation to this, soccer has created some of the world's greatest players who are respected and adored in today's world. The likes of Polish all-time great player Zbigniew Boniek, Italy's Roberto Baggio and Diego Maradona (the current coach of Argentina) is famous for dribbling his way from half the pitch and dazzling the English defense before scoring a winning goal in the 1986 world cup. With just eleven touches his goal was dubbed the goal of the century in 2002 by FIFA.

Fans Or Customers?

Someone asked me the other day if I was excited for the new season, and this got me thinking.
Am I excited? No... Do I want it to start? Yes.
I'll give you my reasons as to why I'm not excited for the new season. Football isn't what it used to be, some readers won't even remember what it was like last time we got promoted, and will only know football since Sky got their hands on it. It has now become to full of overpaid, over-hyped players, who the majority couldn't care less if they played for Newcastle United or West Brom, as long as they get their money at the end of the month.
The grounds are half full, no standing and because of this the atmosphere has been sucked out of the stadiums up and down the country. Then you have the ticket prices spiralling out of control to the extend parents can't take their kids to the game and ruining any chances of the next generation of fans being in touch with their club.

Football Fans

Footballers are always in the news these days, whether it's for their success on the pitch or because of their glamorous lives off the pitch. You only have to look to the tabloids or the glossy magazines to read stories of the turbulent relationships between our modern day football heroes and their WAGs. Being a footballer seems to be a dream job for young boys growing up and idolising them. On paper it appears to be the ultimate job for a young boy; they earn lots of money for doing a job they love, they seem to have the pick of girls queuing up to go out with them and they get treated like royalty on the social scene.
The job they do means that they experience extreme highs and lows on the pitch and have the opportunity to achieve admiration and glory from their fellow team mates and fans. However, this fame teeters on a precarious edge depending on how well they are performing. The downside of the immense fame that comes with being a professional footballer is that the press effectively have a free pass into your private life. You only have to look at the news this week to see the negative effects of this invasion of privacy on John Terry's life. Press involvement in the lives of celebrities can make or break their reputation with one article or one flippant comment.

The Effective Sports Coach

In this day and age of mega salaries for professional athletes in any sports, it is not surprising that many still consider the talented players key to any successful sports team. Owners of professional teams and fans very commonly forget the effective sports coach is the most important person in the team. Instead of spending obscene amounts to lure the best players to the club, owners of sports franchises should invest the most optimum money in the effective sports coach.

Sports Conditioning - The How and Whys to Improve Our Skill Levels

Everybody loves sport in one form or another and the majority of our population will have taken part or been involved with it at some time in their life whether it was at school, college or becoming a weekend warrior to play with some friends in a casual competition. Conditioning is a term that is used to describe preparation or training to increase our ability or skill level at a physical activity. Put together the two terms and we get Sports Conditioning and this is defined as any activity that enhances or promotes our body to be better conditioned to any sports activity, whether that is to run, to jump to throw push to kick or to punch better.
Sports conditioning is not just performing an exercise to be better at a sport. In fact, because the movement requirements in sport are mostly activities that our bodies do on an everyday basis, the more we train these skills, the easier it is for us to get fitter stronger and faster! We just have to train them the right way.

Speed Training For Sports Such As Rugby Or Football

For a Winger in Rugby or in Football your speed and your agility are two of your most valuable assets. The best wingers in the world be it at club or international level work on keeping their pace and speed up for as long as they can.
As a winger myself I have a number of drills I do with on my own to help keep my speed going. You are going to need a few things first which you can easily get by doing a search on the internet or even find on eBay.
These include a weighted vest, ankle weights and a speed parachute pack.
Remember A good warm up before and warm down after each drill is essential.

Signs of Over-Training for Sports Athletes

Hard workouts equals a lean body; this equation is one most athletes depend on. But does one always equal the other?
Unfortunately the answer is no. In fact, chronic over-training can signal the storage of fat. It not only can be telling your body to store fat, but it can also be storing the fat at your waist-line.
Physical training is a form of stress that is applied onto the body. During stress, your body releases a hormone called cortisol (a glucocorticoid from the adrenal gland). Cortisol's primary function is to release glucose (insulin) into the blood at times of acute stress. So, the more stress you place on your body, the more cortisol is released.

Introducing Car Insurance for Sports Cars

In theory, sports cars are usually designed to reach high speeds and they are the favorite target of thieves. This is one of the reason most insurance companies will offer you policies that will include all sort of coverage that you do not really need, and the more coverage you have, the higher the prices will be. However, there are ways that you can lower the price of the rates. No matter if you choose a two-door car or the one with the most horsepower out there, the first thing you should do is to have a talk with other sports car owners about the difficulties they encounter with the car and the insurers. This can help you a lot when you are purchasing the options for your car and will allow you to get affordable insurance.

A Winning Combination For Sports Men and Women!

I'm feeling very philosophical because of the World Cup Soccer fever. There are so many teams involved from all the continents of earth and the whole focus is on a game that will result in one winner.
Actually, there will be more than one winner. We all win regardless of whether our team comes out at the top or not.
And the big win is that we are all focused on what I can only describe as a real and pleasurable game instead of the usual negative stuff (war, crime, drugs, economic disasters) we have shoved in our faces daily.
All our diverse cultures share a common reality: A love of sport and/or just plain support of one's team.
It's really the spirit of the game that makes us all win. Sport is such a great and appropriate field for us to pit our skills and wits. It's also a great way of pulling a country (team) and the world (a bigger team) together.
I don't think South Africans will ever forget how Nelson Mandela used the World Cup Rugby in 1995 (hosted and won by South Africa) to pull our country together. For me, the biggest win was the spirit of my people and the sparkle in their eyes.

9 Tips for Sport Goal Setting

Whether you play in a team, as an individual or are just trying to improve your fitness you may be interested in these sport goal setting tips.
--Decide on a long term goal. It should have a timeframe of at least one year. Maybe it will be to reach a certain number of yards if you play football, to beat a certain time if you are a runner, or to reach a certain weight if you are trying to lose weight. Make sure that its a goal that you would feel great about achieving.
--Don't make the goal too easy or hard. Aim for about a 60-70% chance of success. The goal should be personal and shouldn't rely too much on your team mates. For example a goal to win the finals for a team sport may be hard to achieve no matter how much you improve individually.

Hypnotherapy for Sport Performance

The art of playing a sport is centred in the minds ability to learn and grasp new concepts and the self confidence we have in ourselves to perform better, faster and more appropriately than anyone else at that game. When learning a new sport or trying to be the best at any sport, the link between the mind and the body needs to be strong and unaltered. A sports athlete can strengthen the link of the mind with hypnosis for sport performance.
Hypnosis is the practice of opening the minds eye to things that are sheltering mental development. Long past actions, memories that have been placed behind a wall of blackness are all aspects of life that humans create. These walls can lead us to higher levels of stress and a lack of self confidence that can keep us from performing our best in a given sport. Through the practice of hypnosis, these walls will break down and the true inner strength present in us all can be released, thus improving the mental connection we have with the game we call sports.

Mental Toughness Training For Sports

To reach full potential, any athlete needs mental toughness. That's a combination of mental, emotional and physical toughness. How do you achieve that? You need to get out of your comfort zone and regularly expose yourself to difficulties that stretch your limits. Pride yourself on being able to handle tough circumstances, without whining or feeling self-pity. Top athletes are great role models for this. Who else can we learn this from? Right. Military people. They are all about mental toughness.
